Atticus Deeny is a 23-year-old creative who is obsessed with new music. He has spearheaded the creation of many original recordings with his friends under the name Waao, while also pursuing a video-journalistic passion on YouTube under his full name. Currently residing in Philadelphia, Atticus recently graduated from Drexel University’s Music Industry Program with a Bachelors of Science in audio engineering.
Atticus and Ian go way back, as both friends and musical collaborators. With Waao originating as a collective project, Ian became a frequent feature and member while they both lived in Maine. After leaving Maine for college, Atticus began working closely with fellow Drexel alumni Bay Dupuy, who became the third member of the current Waao trio. Atticus and Bay would experiment with lo-fi production and recording techniques, developing the alternative pop sound heard on the most recent Waao project, Waao 4.
On YouTube, Atticus shows lots of love to the compact disc, his favorite medium of music. His semi-frequent uploads have birthed a few successful mini-series, including CD SHOPPING!, CD unboxings, and a CD collection overview. Aside from his creative side projects, Atticus would like to pursue written music journalism, and has written extensively for local Philadelphia radio station WXPN and Drexel’s student newspaper The Triangle
